Migrating with me and my american dream
Start Migrating
With the development of science and technology for more than 300 years, people migration began to become frequent and distant. For example, the invention of automobiles, ships, trains and airplanes has made people travel very easy and fast, and accelerated people's migration in different regions and societies. The global society has entered an era of great migration. These migration tendencies are geographical, rich and poor. People participate in them. The migration of the rich is to pursue the source of wealth, and the migration of the poor is to change the state and way of life. In the country where I used to live, China, society has also entered the movement of great migration in the century. Of course, my family is no exception. With the change of my father's work, life and dresidence are also changing. Later, I worked and lived independently, and also experienced the change of residence and migration.
My story
After I was admitted to the university, I began to migrate myself. In the first year of university, I finally carried my baggage and embarked on the road to society, and the beginning is to live independently in the university. The way and state of life changed accordingly. In the case of limited living expenses, I need to strictly manage my living expenses, rationally distribute daily meals and meals, and systematically set aside the balance to purchase school supplies and books. Where possible, additional expenditure will be incurred to purchase clothes, etc. Gradually, I learned to be self-confident not bring financial pressure to my parents, so I struggled for a paid job in my university. With the development of economy, the government and enterprises have many forward-looking research plans to universities for research and analysis, at the same time, it also provides many paid learning opportunities for students, among which I am fortunate to be a part of the work, and this is also my first job in social work. Since entering the university to study, I gradually seldom went home, that I grew up in the family, this family has gradually returned to become my parents home. My home was in my suitcase.
When I graduated from university and entered the society to participate in work, the society gave me many job opportunities, although the salary is not high, only to maintain my basic living needs, but I still work actively and learn new knowledge constantly. I remember when my father taught me, he said to me, "Our seniors told us that everyone is a screw in society, or a brick for construction. Only by participating in social work can we realize our value."
Start living in the United States
According to news reports, the United States receives nearly over 1million new immigrants every year, that is 1 million people migrated from all over the world to the United States each year to start their new life. This miraculous and great human migration has never ceased, and has continuously injected an endless stream of life into American society. Of course, I am one of them, adapting to the new living environment and learning new knowledge in the new country. English language is the first obstacle that I and my family need to overcome. Our family actively formulates learning plans and firmly returns to the campus to start new learning. Thanks to the convenience brought by the development of science and technology in modern society, we can have many ways to help ourselves to learn. TV, newspaper, network, electronic products, software programs, etc. can be chosen at will. These facilitation have accelerated our integration into society and facilitated people's mutual understanding. I chose to return to the campus to learn, which is also my long-cherished goal of professional learning. Every morning when I get up early, I go to class and read happily, and then night falls. I sit quietly at the desk, reviewing and attending to the new. My heart is full of hope and blood, and my footsteps never stop. I would like to keep pace with the times.
With my ethnicity
In the United States, among the people of color, people from Asia, especially in Northeast Asia, are not easy to understand. Sometimes others use discriminatory language to describe these people, "why do they often squint, and don't know what they are thinking?" Some people take these descriptions as characteristics to describe the people from Northeast Asia. They are often called the silent yellow race. This is also the characteristic of this group. Although they have immigrated to such an open and expressive country as the United States, they still remain silent and do not communicate with the outside or other ethnic groups. Have been living in their own small circle, live their lives safely. Why, what are these East Asian people thinking and thinking about? These are all social phenomena worthy of our discussion. I think the reasons why East Asians choose to live in silence are: first, to protect themselves and reduce social disputes; second, to live with modesty and cautious; third, to focus their limited ability on family education and wealth accumulation.
People looking for their dreams
More than a hundred years ago, after the Statue of Liberty was established on the small island on the Hudson River in New York Harbor, the world began to have an American dream that people keen and yearn for. This eagerness and expectation have deeply affected everyone that desires to succeed in America, and since then, waves of immigration have flooded into the United States. For example the book “The Distance Between Us” which is an excellent book that shows the American Dream does exist for immigrants. The phrase “American Dream” has a deep meaning that leads to migrants wanting to constantly explore the future for a chance of succeeding here in America. People on this earth can see America in many different eyes through love or hate but in-depth, most people dream about living in America. People have the illusion that in the United States, one can pick up a dollar on the street easily or live a rich life without stress. Although that may be true, it does not mean that the United States does not give us many opportunities to advance, despite our race, origin, religion or gender. “What is the American dream?” some may ask, We find that the American dream has three different types of meanings through the access of education, freedom, and creation of science.
One of the things that explains the attraction of the American dream is the fact that millions of international students are admitted to the United States every year, and these students eventually stay to make a great contribution to the productivity of social science and technology in the United States. Of course, these forces of promoting scientific progress are not only promoted by foreign students entering the United States, but also by all the people in the whole society of the United States, who work together to create scientific miracles. Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, was born to a Syrian (ordinary worker) father. Google former founder, Sergei brin was born in the Soviet Union. In addition, Yang Zhiyuan, the founder of Yahoo, who was most talked about by the Chinese world, was born in Taipei and came to the United States when he was 10 years old. According to the overall statistics of international students, from 2016 to 2017, the number of international students studying in the United States reached a record high of 1078822, an increase of 3.4% over the previous academic year. Compared with the past few years, the growth rate slows down, but this is the second consecutive year in which the number of international students in the United States exceeds 1 million, and the 11th consecutive year in which the number of international students receiving higher education in the United States continues to grow. “Expanding access to opportunity through international education helps us build stronger ties across the world,” said Dr. Allan E. Goodman, president and CEO of IIE. “International students have more choices than ever before on where to pursue higher education. The dedication of American colleges and universities to students’ academic, professional, and personal success is one of the main factors in our international competitiveness.” Each of these international students has an American dream in their hearts. They dream that they can learn the latest science and technology knowledge in the best universities, and obtain the employment of world-class science and technology companies after graduation. They work together with the first-class technical talents and can create one scientific development peak after another.
Conclusion
In the long course of history, human beings seek development and opportunities through constant migration. Like the vast universe, it is always in motion and never stops. Perhaps one day, people will leave the earth and begin to seek a new home in the vastness of the universe. No matter where you are, new places are always full of new opportunities and new difficulties. As people began to develop America 500 years ago, when people were full of passion, faced difficulties at the same time, they were not scared by difficulties, but to face actively, had the courage to solve the problems, until now the American continent people created the miracle of human development, realza the magic dream influenced generations of descendants. It can be seen from this that the problem of mankind is not a real problem, but a problem of how to develop, which needs to be solved in the process of development. Just as human ignorance is gradually eliminated after the development of society. The American dream is to encourage people to work together to create and build our dreams, and it like the Liberty statue standing on America land, and light up the hope of people. Basing on it, I am going to do it, face it and make it come true, and everyone can be too.
