A child's Journey

This Story is about a woman named Chen Sen her parents had originally migrated from China and settled in Vietnam in a fisherman village. Chen Sen was born in Vietnam 1965 she grew up with a Chinese community in Vietnam. Chen son was born in a dangerous time period the era of the Vietnam war and its political instability. Chen Sen story is somewhat vague due to her story happening when she was young so there is not much to tell from her time in Vietnam during the war except for fear they had of being taken as prisoners of war. Due to the political instability in Vietnam during the 1970s and the fear Chen Sen’s parents had, they decided to return to China so they could escape that fear. It was 1978 Chen Sen’s parent decided to move to southern china where they have plenty of family. They travelled to Southern china using the fishing boat they got from the village in Vietnam they packed what things they could take and headed out for a temporary safe haven. Although Chen Sens family secured some income-generating activities in southern China, the amount of money they were paid was never enough. As a result of economic instability in China as such, Chen Sen and her family encountered dire economic difficulties.

They began to search for better opportunities in other countries Chen Sen’s family had to stay with friends since they could not meet some of their needs on their own. They stayed in china for about 2 years fortunately, the Hong Kong Government developed a program to help refugees. This is what Chen San and her parents needed; they exploited the refugee program opportunity and migrated to Hong Kong in 1980 using the fishing boat they used to migrate from Vietnam. The refugee program had its own challenges as food was scarce and Chen Sen was living in abject poverty. Hong Kong was a small geographical area with meager resources and limited government resources that could not provide sufficient shouldering strength for all the refugees.
