Migration Story Excerpt
“You can get better education and future here, at the very least, you are different from others, because of the territory that under your feet, some others may not have this chance. Why can’t you understand me and your mother’s painstaking efforts? You should be content”, my father said it seriously. At that moment, I locked myself in the room, silent. Even if I had ten thousand reasons to tell him that I wanted to leave and I missed home, but I couldn’t help it. They were for my good, at the same time, they gave up a lot for me.
For a person who has been emigrating to the United States for eight years, she is absolute that every aspect will print the seal of the United States. However, in these years, gains and losses are equal, get the kind of freedom and ease I want, but also pay a huge loss of affection. To have a family reunion, all kinds of expenses add up to a huge sum of money, the lack of affection and the huge cost of reunion are overwhelming. In addition, the most painful thing is that when your family leaves, you don't even have the chance to see the last one, such a regret is lifelong.
Many people question the status of Chinese in the United States. Individuals feel that the United States is not discriminatory in terms of system and law, but because of historical reasons and personal feelings, people always wear colored glasses to look at foreigners, which is understandable, but it does cause a lot of contradictions and vicious incidents. As a result, my initial understanding of a country is often based on subjective judgments made on my own objective conditions.
“Was my decision right?” My father asked, his brows twisted.
“Yes, I think it was,” I whispered.
Feeling American culture for a long time, the biggest change is to find yourself looking at your surroundings differently, not by comparing yourself to others, and not necessarily by affirming success, especially by thinking objectively about what's going on around you.
Living in the United States has made me feel a detached mentality, people are not living to show others, but to live meaningfully. Every month, I take the initiative to do one or two community, school voluntary services, these people from different backgrounds and identities, dedicated to children, for the elderly, for the community service. There are few people who live real selves, and those who are willing to put complex mentality to restore pure people are few. The United States has taught me an attitude towards life, which is why many people emigrate to the United States.
In brief, my academic ideas have been fulfilled by 60%. The pains that once fought against me have disappeared over time. My foreign life has not been gilded on my passport but has given me direction. If someone asks, "What's the greatest inspiration from your experience over the years?" I'll tell him, "It gives me different perspectives on thinking, doing, and living." More specifically, it's about pulling clues out of complex images that you can't see and simplify clearly.
Essay II Excerpt
The seed of immigration takes root in the historical territory of the United States, even so, the native Americans simply not willing to study, care and cultivate it. However, if we buried our migration stories and choose not to dig it out, the anti-migration ideologies in this country will gradually propagate. In other words, the absence of voice only brings the negative impacts and attitudes, others will no longer accept and understand who we are. When the society accumulates more and more criticism on immigration, the significance of our stories will begin to disappear, results in others put on their color-glasses, and judge our identities.
In my opinion, when human beings were born, God has paved the way for life, but everyone has different turning points. However, immigration should be counted. Of course, the direction of the track is from our own decision, but fate is not under our control. The ones who migrate may be under expectations; may be under pressure. They have concerns; they have similar difficulties; they have the goal of struggle, just like my parents. We start from different directions. This turning point gathers us together, gathers different cultures and education, speaking different languages, experiencing a different history. However, in this country, we are embarking on the same land.

Based on research from all three essays, the next step for honoring the migrant stories is to respect the significance and value of the experience behind each immigrant. We have to be brave and confident to tell who we are, in the meanwhile, we should appreciate who we are. For many people in the United States, success is not as easy as it is imagined. Success is often based on education and unremitting personal struggles, while those who do not have much culture but the "American dream" coming to the United States, they often reluctantly fall to the bottom of society. They have a deeper experience of the hardships of life and the loss of dignity. We must learn to understand and accept the efforts of every immigrant, perhaps, they do not have legal documents in their hands, but they are like us, to build a better future for themselves, their children, and their family.
